Our Story
QB4ALL’s mission is to use quizbowl to instill a lifelong love of learning among underprivileged students by introducing quizbowl and easing prohibitive financial barriers to improve and compete. QB4ALL recruits low-income students, helps them prepare for competitions, partners with organizations to reduce costs, and pays tournament registration fees.

I first became involved in quizbowl when I was in 4th grade. As a homeschooler, I took an International Academic Competition (IAC) exam and did well enough to qualify for an IAC Regional event. I competed and did well enough to qualify for Nationals in Chicago. I attended and loved it. We talked to coaches, discovered the National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT) and the Texas Quiz Bowl Association (TQBA), and started our own team. I have since continued to participate in local, national, and international tournaments. I have also served as a Tournament Director at local tournaments, and I coach elementary and middle school students at Georgetown Day School in Washington, DC.
I was still in middle school when I realized that not everyone who did well locally could attend frequent local or higher-level tournaments. Team-based bowls and individual-based bees cost money. I believe no student should miss a tournament because they don't have the resources to cover registration and other related fees. I hope QB4ALL helps curious students discover the world of buzzer-based academic competitions and makes it possible for every student who wants to compete to be able to afford to compete.
